Action for Wildlife - The Dartmoor Biodiversity Project

'Making a difference on the ground'

Action for Wildlife is a three year project which was launched in September 2001 and follows the highly successful Dart Biodiversity Project. Contact Us to request a copy of the Dart Biodiversity Project Evaluation Report. The project carries out practical action which benefits wildlife on the ground within Dartmoor National Park, with particular emphasis on the catchment areas of the rivers Dart and Teign.

Action for Wildlife focuses on key habitats and species identified in the Dartmoor Biodiversity Action Plan (BAP), and provides highly targeted support to carry out many of the agreed actions in this plan. It also carries out many of the biodiversity elements of other plans such as the Local Environment Agency Plans for the Dart and Teign. It complements the work of other agencies and as well as having it's own works budget it provides a focus for financial and practical resources.

Project staff work with Dartmoor residents to provide whatever support is needed to help them protect and enhance Dartmoor's wildlife. This can include grant advice, information, practical ideas, labour (including contractors and volunteers), materials, training sessions and facilitation (including dealing with bureaucracy).

Have a look at our Projects page for details of current projects, and the Project Focus which illustrates how the project works, in greater detail.
